What we collect

Your name, email address, the kind of learner you are, and your learning progress: where you are in each video, your answers to pauses, your notes and your reflections, and the work you hand in for exercises (workbook answers, exam answers, essays and images).

How we use it

To save your place, show your progress, issue certificates and send the emails you need, such as password resets. We improve lessons using anonymous totals, never individual answers.

What others can see

Your reflections, notes and workbook answers are private to you. Staff see counts, never their content. The course team reads the essays and images you hand in so they can review them, and can see your exam scores. Answers to polls are only shown to others as anonymous totals, and only once enough people have answered.

The help assistant

The help assistant in the corner of each page answers questions about APSORE. We keep what you type to it, and what it replies, so the conversation carries on when you come back and so our team can follow up on problems it logs. It knows whether you're signed in, which page you're on and the problems you reported before. It can't see your answers, notes or reflections.

If you use it without signing in, a cookie on your device remembers your conversation. If you then sign in or create an account on the same device within a day, that conversation moves to your account; signing out removes the cookie.

If you talk to it, your voice goes straight from your browser to Google's Gemini service to be understood and answered. We don't record or keep any audio: we keep a written transcript of what was said, which Google's service produces. Your microphone is only used after you press Start talking, and stops when the call ends.

We delete assistant conversations 90 days after the last message, unless a problem you reported is still being looked at. Problems the team has resolved close after 14 days, and any contact email you gave us is deleted 90 days after a problem closes.

Contact form and newsletter

When you use the contact form we keep your name, email address and message so the team can reply, and email you a receipt. If you sign up for the newsletter we keep your email address and whether you confirmed or unsubscribed. We only send the newsletter after you confirm by pressing the button in our email, and every email has a link to unsubscribe.

To stop these forms being misused we set a small cookie that identifies your browser to them, and we count messages per browser or network address for a day.

Who processes it

Bunny.net streams the videos, our email provider delivers account emails, and Google's Gemini service answers the help assistant (typed and spoken). Each processes data only on our behalf. We never sell data and there is no advertising.

Your choices

You can change your details, download your data or delete your account at any time from your settings.
